Doug Ronson – Senior Consultant

Doug has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, business operations and writing.

He founded what is now Educational Testing Service Canada in 1994tn (2), growing the company from start-up to an established company delivering assessment and learning services across Canada.  ETS Canada is part of Educational Testing Service and supports the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC).

At ETS Canada, Doug built an outstanding reputation for his expertise in:

  • Marketing and business development
  • Proposal writing and creating content for websites and brochures
  • Business planning and entrepreneurship

Prior to starting ETS Canada, Doug was a newspaper journalist, starting as a reporter and later serving as News Editor. It was at the newspaper that he developed his outstanding research and writing skills. After leaving the news business, he served for several years on the selection committee for Canada’s National Newspaper Awards.

In his spare time, Doug is active in the community as a board member with the Kingston Triathlon Club and as a committee member at the Community Foundation of Kingston and Area. He is a strong believer in the power of grassroots organizations to enhance the quality of life in a community.

Christien Lee – Consultant

Christien has been involved in teaching and education since 1992, and has specialized in providing services related to English-language exams and assessment since 1997.In 2004 he founded a private language centre in Toronto, offering intensive training to help international students and permanent residents of Canada pass high-stakes exams like TOEFL and IELTS. This language centre, originally ChristienLeePhotoknown as Higher Score, quickly gained a reputation for quality, value and service and received numerous awards for excellence from local educational agents.In 2009, Higher Score was acquired by a larger chain of schools and now forms a specialist exam department within the EC group. Christien has written several publications used by schools in Asia and has developed testing materials for Oxford University Press. He is currently working on several projects related to exam teaching and teacher training, including a book that represents a new approach to teaching TOEFL that is scheduled to be published by Oxford University Press in 2014.
